The french have been making plum jam for centuries. Aside from being delicious on a breakfast brioche, it also is used as the filling for tarte aux prunes, a specialty of alsace. Stoning pounds and pounds of plums needed to make a jam can be a time consuming chore, unless you have this gadget. You place the plum on the plastic lined holder, squeeze the handles together, and the four pointed blades cut through the fruit and pop the stone out of the bottom. The blades cut the plum open along one side but leave the fruit whole. The pitter is 6.5 inches long. Made in germany.
