It can take as much as 1 oz of red paste color to one cup of icing to get a deep red. Large amounts of this colour may affect icing taste. Use Red (no-taste) for large areas of red on a cake. Or, first colour the icing pink, then add Red (no-taste) to deepen the colour, and finally add Christmas Red to achieve the desired shade.
